Is PHP Good for Large Projects?

May 21, 2022     for, Good, Large, php, Projects?     No comments

There are many ways to answer this question, but one thing is for certain: PHP was created for the purpose of simplifying life for developers by introducing a programming language that can be embedded in HTML. The language is now 25 years old and the question of whether it’s good for large projects is still debated.

PHP was designed as an alternative to C++ and Java because they were difficult to learn and debug. PHP is also used on websites since it’s relatively easy to deploy. As you might guess, PHP isn't suitable for projects that require large amounts of code or performance-intensive workflows such as video encoding or audio processing because its core runtime engine has limited resources compared with other languages like Java, C#, or Python (which have their own limitations).

At the end of 2019 a survey of 74,000 programmers found that PHP was only used by 3.2% of respondents. However, many still think PHP has a lot to offer in terms of speed, Simplicity, and flexibility.

You may have heard that PHP is dying. A survey of 74,000 programmers found that only 3.2% were using PHP in 2019, with JavaScript and Python being the most popular languages among respondents. However, many still think PHP has a lot to offer in terms of speed, Simplicity, and flexibility.

PHP has been around since 1994 and is used by many websites today including [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/) and [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/). It's also used by many developers including [Matt Mullenweg](https://twitter.com/photomatt), the creator of WordPress (the most popular content management system) as well as [Andrew Nacin](https://twitter.com/andrewnacin), a core developer for WordPress who has been working on it for 14 years now!

PHP certainly has many advantages that make it an excellent choice for developing small projects and start-ups. However, whether it works well for larger projects and enterprises is still being debated.

PHP certainly has many advantages that make it an excellent choice for developing small projects and start-ups. However, whether it works well for larger projects and enterprises is still being debated.

PHP has been around since 1995, so there are many developers who have established experience with the language. This can be a boon when you're looking to hire someone to help you on your project or to fill a position within your company. If a developer knows PHP, they can quickly learn the ins and outs of any specific project because of its similarity to other languages like C++ or Java.

PHP also requires little overhead in terms of hardware requirements as compared to Java or C++ (which both require more processing power). This makes PHP ideal for hosting sites where users expect fast page load speeds—like news sites or blogs—or even e-commerce stores that need speed but don't need complex functionality from their CMSs (content management systems).
